Send Your Loved Ones A Package On Us!

The Hiwassee Chapter of the American Red Cross announced they will be in Athens, TN on December 2 at 3 p.m. doing a live radio remote with WLAR at Heritage Jeep 2805 Decatur Pike Athens, TN handing out prepaid postage boxes so families would be able to send their deployed loved ones a care package at no charge to them.

Recipients are asked to bring along the military address of their deployed loved one. And please note that once the box is full and ready to ship the recipient will have to take the package to the United States Post Office and go across the counter because the package is prepaid. We will have the custom form and sleeves there for convenience.

The American Red Cross has a long history of providing support to members of the U.S. Armed Forces and their families since its founding on the Civil War battlefield by Clara Barton. The chapter recently received funding from the Department of Defense to support a myriad of new and existing services and activities with the Service to the Armed Forces Department. One portion of this was for postage for care packages.
About the American Red Cross:

The American Red Cross shelters, feeds and counsels victims of disasters; provides nearly half of the nation's blood supply; teaches lifesaving skills; and supports military members and their families. The Red Cross is a charitable organization – not a government agency – and depends on volunteers and the generosity of the American public to perform its humanitarian mission.
